Important Update: Exams, Registration and Certification Services Impacted by Job Action
Last Updated: October 15, 2025
Our invigilation partner, Service BC, and exam printing and distribution partner, BC Mail Plus, are currently participating in the ongoing BC Government Employees Union (BCGEU) job action.
In addition, Canada Post service disruption is affecting the delivery of apprenticeship registration packages.
As a result, the following services are temporarily affected:
Exams
Scheduled exams from October 7 to 31 that are not delivered in-class are cancelled.
Scheduled exams from November 1 onward will be cancelled on a rolling weekly basis. Candidates will be notified three weeks in advance if their exams are cancelled.
Affected candidates will be contacted directly to reschedule once exam services resume normal operations.
New exam bookings are currently on hold.
Processing times for receiving exam results may take longer than usual.
Certification Printing and Distribution
Recently certified journeypersons will not receive printed certificates until the strike concludes.
Journeypersons with certificates issued in B.C. after January 28, 2009 can view their certificate numbers through their Portal account.
Anyone who needs to verify a certification can use the online verification tool.
Individuals who require proof of certification urgently for employment or exceptional circumstances can contact Customer Service. Urgent requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
We are monitoring the situation as it develops and will provide further updates on November exams should the job action continue into mid-October.
Apprenticeship Registration
Canada Post's rotating strikes may cause delays in the delivery of apprenticeship registration packages. In the meantime, apprentices and sponsors can access their confirmation of registration through their Portal accounts and emails.
We recognize the inconvenience and disruption to apprentices and trade workers and appreciate your patience and understanding. We remain committed to supporting affected individuals and resuming full services as soon as circumstances allow.
If you have any questions, please contact Customer Service for assistance.
