Holders of a Canadian Certificate of Qualification
Certificate of Qualification in British Columbia
If you hold a Certificate of Qualification in British Columbia, and wish to obtain a Red Seal Endorsement, please submit the following documents:
- Exam Application Form
- A photocopy of your Certificate of Qualification
There is no fee to challenge the Red Seal exam for the first and second scheduling/writing attempts. The documents may be emailed, faxed or mailed to ITA.
Please note: If you only hold a Certificate of Apprenticeship, and wish to obtain a Certificate of Qualification and/or Red Seal Endorsement, you will only be able to do so if the Certificate of Qualification was not available at the time you obtained your Certification of Apprenticeship. If the Certificate of Qualification was available, please challenge the trade to receive your certification.
Certificate of Qualification outside of British Columbia
If you hold a Certificate of Qualification from another Canadian jurisdiction, and wish to obtain a Red Seal Endorsement, please submit the following documents:
- Exam Application Form
- A photocopy of your Certificate of Qualification
- $120 out of province assessment fee. You can pay online here, mail a cheque (payable to Industry Training Authority) in with your application, or pay in person by cash or debit card at the SkilledTradesBC Customer Service desk.
Holders of Military Certification
If you can show proof of a Canadian Military Trade Certification, with proof of a Military ranking at QL5 or higher, you can provide this in lieu of completing a Certification Challenge Package. This applies for specific trades only (see table below). For additional resources, please visit the Helmets to Hardhats website.
Please provide the following documents:
- Exam Application Form
- Proof of Canadian Military Trade Certificate
- Proof of Canadian Military ranking at QL5 or higher
There is no assessment fee required.
