Nominator's Message
What does it look like to make apprenticeship matter? Extensive internal training, apprenticeship culture, mentoring scope of trade and ensuring that apprentices have the resources needed to not only progress to Red Seal certification but continue past red seal to deliver incredible scope of trade and service to our community. This is Temprite Climate Solutions. Thank you Temprite Climate Solutions for providing incredible mentorship and emulating the apprenticeship model for my home community.
Why is apprenticeship important?
Testimonial from Keanan Egeland, Co-Owner at Temprite Climate Solutions, Red Seal Certified Refrigeration Technician, B Ticket Gas Technician, TECA Certified and Electrical Field Safety Representative.
“From starting out as an apprentice in the HVAC trade and transitioning to Journeyman, then co-owner of Temprite - the utmost important part of this journey are the skills I received along the way.
The apprenticeship program allowed me to work across vastly different areas including plumbing, heating, cooling, refrigeration, gas, sheet metal, and electrical trades. All these departments allowed me to gain the skills and the experience I needed from highly skilled journeypersons throughout my apprenticeship.
The schooling involved over my 5 year apprenticeship program broke up the repetition of day to day work, and was much more feasible than other post-secondary education options. This allowed me to focus on the literature in my trade and gave me everything needed to complete my Red Seal certification valid across Canada today.
My goal here at Temprite is to give the same opportunity to others that I had - to create wealth, knowledge, and success, inside and outside of the trades. Over the past 10 years I have been fortunate enough to witness this cycle many times here at Temprite, and together we all share in the apprentice’s success and accomplishments as they progress to complete their Red Seal certification."
